Katie Milne (nee Byrd) has varied responsibilities in supporting the firm and the legal team at Anthony J. Madonia & Associates, Ltd. From research and information gathering, court filings and client document confirmation to drafting estate planning documents and ensuring that client assets are appropriately funded into their trusts, she ensures that details have been addressed and timelines have been met.
In addition, she runs the office with efficiency and grace. Milne manages the day-to-day needs of keeping the firm running. This includes supervising and monitoring the work of administrative staff, processing payroll and invoices as well as managing office budgets. She is crucial to implementing and maintaining procedures/office administrative systems, recruiting and filling open positions, organizing induction program for new employees. She also is a major component of the tax team and ensures prompt and secure communications with clients and the tax team.
Traditionally, a paralegal/office manager is a professional who oversees the operations of a law office. Their duties include distributing cases to paralegals, training new staff, scheduling attorney and client meetings, and conducting legal research. They also prepare and file legal documents, handle legal correspondence, and manage office equipment inventories. This role requires strong leadership, management, and decision-making skills, as well as thorough knowledge of the legal field. A paralegal/office manager may also oversee personnel decisions, prepare mediation transcripts and arbitration decisions, and maintain attorney schedules.
Married in 2021, Katie is enjoying life with her husband, Jeffrey. She and her husband have purchased their first home and welcomed their daughter, Emersyn. While she has retired from her role as teacher and choreographer at Le Ballet Petit, she still attends many of their performances especially the ones with her nieces in them.
Ms. Milne graduated Cum Laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Political Science. Subsequently, she achieved paralegal certification from Chicago State University.
Recently married, Katie Byrd has changed her name to Katie Milne. Dance has been part of Ms. Milne’s’s life since she taking her first ballet class at the age of four. She continues to be actively involved in community dance as a skilled ballet performer and instructor. She volunteers as Company Director and Instructor for Le Ballet Petit School of Dance in Chicago, Illinois where she formed the award winning, Living by Performing Dance Team, which performs throughout the Chicagoland Area.
